Thank you for being a part of our journey throughout 2021! As we grow together, reaching people, touching souls, and create impact, let’s take a look at how our adventure has spanned out during 2021.
It all started out in March 2021, when our founders, Fajar Jasmin, Jeremia Jefferson, Krishna Sugiartha, and Yoshua Sugandhi got together to run a social-based crypto/blockchain project. We wanted this not to be just another meme project. Rather, we wanted everything to be built on real use cases, providing answers to real-world issues.
Realizing the needs to build on a stronger team, we also enlisted the help of Rizky Suud as our Chief of Finance & Governance.
In April 2021, we got a fellow genius onboard as an advisor: Nanda Ivens. His experience and insights would prove to be beneficial for the growth of BeKind.
A lot of meetings and many intense discussions later, with two of our team members AFK due to COVID, our spirit stayed strong: we started our private sale in June 2021. We also agreed to focus more on the real things and less on hype marketing. To introduce BeKind and what we’re all about to everyone, we had an AMA. Plus, reiterating our commitment to create something real, even before our launch, we already had a partnership set in stone with WeCare.id, an online crowdfunding platform for people who had medical needs.
And we didn’t stop there. BeKind entered into partnership with Tokocrypto in July 2021, as the managing partner of their CSR arm, TokoCare. Along with this, BKND was also officially announced to be the first project to be incubated by Tokocrypto, showing a growing trust and support from the crypto community in Indonesia.
Well, a partnership wouldn’t be real if we never did anything. Therefore, during the peak times of COVID’s second wave in Indonesia, together with Tokocrypto and WeCare.id, BeKind distributed free oxygen cylinders to hospitals in Java. Our CEO was even involved directly during one of the distributions, shining out our heart to help those in need.
In August 2021, BeKind collaborated further with WeCare.id, where for every IDR 10k donated, donors will be entitled to get points that could be converted into our token. While true kindness does not require anyone to be aware of it, we believe it is time for us to reward do-gooders. What goes around comes around, and we believe by doing this, we are instilling kindness as a culture.
Likewise, if we want to expand our partnership and extend the reach of kindness, we realise we would have to follow certain compliance requirements. Thus, PT BeKind Teknologi Asia and Yayasan BeKind Teknologi Indonesia were established in September 2021, as specific legal umbrellas for BeKind.
As for our private sale, the adoption grew significantly: we even received hundreds of messages every day in our sales desk inbox! As rewards to our early adopters, we created a referral plan, where both the referrer and referral will earn free tokens on a new purchase. The enthusiasm only skyrocketed due to this program, with many people referring their family and friends to join our community of KindHearts.
We then continued educating and running our private sale. We closed this chapter well, building a good rapport with all of our early adopters. We concluded our private sale in October 2021, selling millions of our token to more than 500 people!
Also, like the saying goes “A thousand friends are too few,” we believe we have to continue building relationships with new partners. Therefore, in this month, we also started a collaboration with Bantoo.id, in a similar kindness-is-rewarded model like the one we established in October with WeCare.id.
And that’s not all: we held our first developer workshop together with our partner, DigitalMind. Expectations were aligned, and BeKind could now start developing our products from a stronger position. We also enlisted the help of Play In House to deliver great user experience for our adopters.
November 2021 was a big month: we started our presale, ran a community AMA, and had a webinar with various relevant stakeholders within the donations and social ecosystem. The general sentiment was good, with these stakeholders welcoming to what BeKind was building. As the first step, we launched BeKind Hub 1.0. Here, the general public would be able to see and experience how it feels to donate by taking advantage of the blockchain, where everything is more transparent and practical. Again, the team at BeKind have proven that hearts at the right place can do wonders: even before any public launching of our token, we have created a working product.
In this month, we also decided to re-shuffle the team a bit, adding another expert as our Chief of Brand & Experience: Leonnie F Merinska.
For the presale period, we’re running a promotion that doesn’t simply focus to sell our tokens. Rather, we are staying true to our spirit of spreading kindness. We have set milestones, which, when met, would trigger donations from the BeKind team to various social causes and initiatives. The first milestone is when 1 million token has been sold, BeKind will donate IDR 120 million to Kopi5, a community dedicated for the empowerment and better livelihood of coffee farmers in Indonesia. Further milestones will be announced in our social media accounts.
We also held our second workshop, focusing more on the impacts we’re about to create and the deliverables needed to ensure that these impacts are reached.
There were also several updates made on BeKind Hub. Bugs were fixed, improvements and upgrades were made, especially in our two main features: the Kindness Portfolio and Donation Widget. Both are complementary to one another and advocate the power of blockchain. Through the Kindness Portfolio, you can check your wallet’s history – if you have made any donations via our Hub, that is. By using the Donation Widget, you can easily donate to a cause’s wallet address, that will be displayed publicly, showing transparency.
Ending the year on a high note, we are aligning and enriching our plans to scale-up our vision for more equitable kindness, as you can see in our newest iteration on our whitepaper. Join us as we embark on this exciting journey.
